today's date: May 9th, 2008 ...people take the time to send us a note or an email. Here is what family caregivers have to say about our services... " Here is a small donation - - I receive Network News through the doctor I work for, so I get to read it, and then I pass it on to one of our very unfortunate patients, who has little, but carries a great burden, caring for a partner. When I lost my mother last November, the lady I contacted through Caregivers was an immense help - - I still read daily from the book she shared with me - the videos were also a great help in my trying to make my way through the grieving period. I am still working on myself - - and it is not easy - - Every so often I will try to send something in appreciation." Regards, M. E. "The package that you made up for my friend was a huge success. She was overwhelmed by the number of resources she could access here in the Victoria area. Honestly, that package has made her feel a lot more confident about the coming months. Thank you so very much." Regards, M. D. "My daughter and I would like to thank you for the dinner and evening with Peter Silin. We found it a great comfort to hear what Peter had to say for we are having to put my husband in a nursing home and feel so guilty. I am now reading Peter's book. Thank you again for the help you have given us." Sincerely, B. I. and S. T. "Thank you for the information package and application form for Network News. I look forward to receiving my first copy. In the booklets and brochures I have found so many valuable pieces of information. One of which, is the respect and acceptance for our Mom's right to autonomy, for as long s she can manage and remain safe. A general statement, but as you know, one of the many overwhelming situations families face on a daily basis. We can now refocus our attentions with a better understanding of our Mom's needs and the needs of the caregiver. Thank you again to the Family Caregivers' Network, your support and access to information." Sincerely, C. L. "I want to tell you, your agency has one of the best newsletters around!!! Great layout, excellent articles, and love those cartoons. Keep up the good work. You should all be proud of your good work." Yours truly, I. D. "It was a pleasure meeting with you and the caregivers support group at the Luther Court last Monday evening. Mum and I felt very welcomed by you. You are a "special person". Thank you. After chatting on the phone it was nice to meet you. We all need support somewhere. The best to you and your families - you have many!!" Sincerely, A. H. and M.H. "As I read the January newsletter I realized once again what a treasure you are for those of us "family members" in the field. Although I have not used the services often, we appreciate that fact that they are there. The library resources are excellent; the columns in each issue of network News are full of specific and helpful advice; the sense of up-beat energy you give is something I need to plug into. And I value the seminars like the upcoming one on Facility Placement. Thank you for the advocacy and lobbying you do on behalf of caregivers." Sincerely, G. W. |
